Dear Lord, we thank you for a chance to begin the 2026 school year. Bless all the staff, students, and families in our community. We pray that your spirit guides us in all our endeavours. Amen.

Principal Message

Welcome back to the 2026 school year!  Welcome to those families with children beginning school for the first time, those new to our school and those who are returning. We hope you all enjoy your time here at Xavier.  Despite the HOT weather, everyone has settled into the new year exceptionally well.

Welcome back to our wonderful staff, and to our newest members of staff; Ms Kelly Harlow (Kindy Blue), Mrs Kaye Elsum (PP Blue), Ms Darlene Levett (Year 2 Gold), Mrs Cheryl Sullivan (Year 6 Blue) and Mrs Lisa MacGregor (Library).

Opening School/Commissioning Mass

Last Friday, the school held its opening Mass in which it commissioned the Year 6 students.  Before receiving their leadership badges, the badges were blessed by Fr Mark.  Thank you to the Year 6 teachers and Mrs Konle for preparing the Mass in such a short amount of time.

Ash Wednesday Mass

On Wednesday 18 February at 11.00am, we will celebrate Ash Wednesday Mass with the whole school community.  This Mass marks the commencement of the Lenten Season, a time to focus our attention on three key areas in our life:  prayer, almsgiving and fasting.

MJR (Make Jesus Real) Award

Congratulations to Emelia Alex (5B) who is our first MJR Award recipient for the year. “Emelia consistently demonstrates a caring and welcoming demeanour towards all those she meets.  She is a polite and considerate member of the Xavier School Community and will go out of her way to assist those in need. Emelia makes Jesus real through her positive interactions with students, staff and parents and we are very lucky to have Emelia as a shining star in our school community.  Keep up the splendid work, Emelia.”  Read more about Emelia’s reaction to winning the MJR Award. The next MJR Award will be presented at the Year 4 Gold Assembly on Friday 27 March.

Sacramental Enrolment Masses

Those Years 3, 4 and 6 students who will be receiving one of the three Sacraments this year, will need to attend either the 6.00pm Mass on Saturday 21 February, or the 9.30am or 6.00pm Mass on Sunday 22 February to enrol for the program.  Please remember to bring your enrolment form to Mass.

P&F Welcome Back Family Night

The P&F will be hosting a Welcome Back Family Night at school on Friday 6 March.  Events held during the evening will be FREE to the school community.  There will be food trucks available to purchase dinner and many different free activities for families to be involved in.  Families can BYO their own dinner if they wish, and something comfortable to sit on (e.g., blankets, beanbags, low lying chairs etc.).  More details to come.

Year 6 Leaver's shirts

The Year 6 children received their 2026 Leaver’s shirts last week. A huge thanks to the Xavier P&F for providing one shirt for each Year 6 child.

P&F Executive 2026

Thank you to the familiar and new parents/carers who attended the first P&F meeting this week, your presence was appreciated.  During the meeting, the 2026 executive team was finalised.  Congratulations to the following parents:

  • Chairperson: Rechelle Moulton
  • Vice-Chairperson:   Amber Matthews
  • Secretary:  Kelly Asphar
  • Treasurer: Melissa Daly

Kindy Screening

During Week 4, the school has arranged for all kindergarten students to receive Speech and Occupational Therapy screening.  The results will allow teachers to implement early intervention strategies to assist all our students in having the best start to their schooling as possible.

Student Collection/Drop Off

The school understands that due to unexpected circumstances, there will be times when student pick up and or drop off arrangements change.  If possible, please inform the school asap if a message needs to be sent to a child regarding a change in circumstances.  If the school receives consistent messages of late pick up or drop off, an alternative arrangement such as OSHClub needs to be sought by parents.  Please do not drop your child off on Forrest Road or in the middle of the carpark.  Not only is it unsafe and dangerous, but it also causes unnecessary congestion on the Forrest Road and in the carpark.
