God of Mercy, You chose a tax collector, Saint Matthew, to share the dignity of the apostles. By his example and prayers, help us to follow Christ and remain faithful in Your service. We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen
(Saint Matthew – September 21st)

Please note that this Term 4 calendar is a draft and is subject to change. It will be sent in each fortnight’s newsletter and can be found on the website.

As this is the final newsletter for Term 3, we would like to wish everyone a well-deserved and safe holiday.  A reminder that Term 4 resumes on Tuesday 13 October.

Learning Journey

Wow, what an afternoon!  Thank you to all the families who took the time to attend last week’s Learning Journey.  A BIG thank you to all the staff and students for the hard work that went into preparing the classrooms – they looked superb!

New Administration landscaping

The front of the school has recently had the garden re-landscaped. The old rose bushes were snapped up by a few community members. We’re hoping that the native bushes planted will enhance the local area.

Book Week Parade

It was wonderful to see so many staff, students and parents dressing up for this year’s Book Parade.  There were some brilliant costumes on display.  Thank you to families for the time you took in dressing your child up for the special day.  Click below to view photos of the parade.

Congratulations to Year 4 Gold

Last Tuesday evening, the Year 4 Gold class performed at the Finale Concert as part of the closing celebrations of this year’s Catholic Performing Arts Festival.  The Year 4 Gold class won the shield for the best Choral Speech performance over the course of the festival.  Andrew Birchenall received the shield on behalf of the school.  A special mention to Mr. Papp, Ms Igglesden and Miss Kelly-Pages for preparing the students for this performance.

Not Returning in 2027?

If your child is not returning to Xavier in 2027 (except students in Year 6), could you please inform the Office in writing by Monday 9 November.  It is a government requirement that you advise Xavier of the new school your child will be attending.

Student Absences

It is a legal requirement that parents/care givers provide the school with a reason for their child’s absence (sickness, holiday etc.,) every day they are away from school.  Teachers will be contacting parents/care givers over the next few weeks to try and resolve any outstanding absences, including those from first Semester.

From the Social Worker's Desk

Through literature, children can learn valuable friendship skills and strengthen empathy, especially when the stories are coupled with opportunities to apply the lessons to their own lives.
Storybooks are a great way to spark a discussion around friendship. Kids can learn through the experience of the characters, plus reflect on the moral of the story.
