Almighty and everlasting God, we thank you for your Servant Francis, whom you called to preach the Gospel to the peoples of Asia. Raise up, we pray, in this and every land heralds and evangelists of your kingdom, that your Church may proclaim the unsearchable riches of our saviour Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
(Prayer to St. Francis Xavier – 3rd December)

As this is the final newsletter for the year, I would like to thank the students for all their hard work, the staff for their dedication and commitment to a supportive learning environment and finally, to all our families for your continued support throughout the year.

Thank you to those people who were able to attend last week’s AGM.  I was enormously proud to be able to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of so many people this year as well as highlight the success that has been achieved at Xavier throughout 2023.

On behalf of the school, I would like to make special mention of Carlie Richins and Monica Henry for their outstanding contribution to the Advisory Council.  I would also like to welcome John Birchenall as the new Advisory Council member for 2024.

As per the P&F Constitution, all Committee positions were made vacant.  Finalisation of the 2024 P&F Committee positions will take place at the first meeting in Term One.

In 2024, the school will welcome 8 new members to staff:  Amy Rimmer, Vanessa Vitanza, Jaymie-Lee Deuter, Monna Baugbog, Louella Foreman, Kristy Barns, Amy Gerick, and Hollie Male.  I know they will enjoy their time here and the community will make them feel welcomed.

We also farewelled Mrs Rist, Mrs Musulin, Mario Leeder, and Mason Hamersley who will be leaving Xavier at the end of the year.  Mr Papp and Mr Kumagai will be taking the year off and will return in 2025.  On behalf of the school community, I would like to thank you all for the outstanding contribution you have made to this community over the time you have been at the school.  We wish you all the very best for your future endeavours.

I would like to wish ALL the school community, parents, children, staff, Fr. Mark, Deacon Errol, and our parish every blessing for the coming festive season, as well as, hoping you have a safe and happy holiday.  I look forward to another exciting school year in 2024.

Carols Night

Thank you to all the families who attended last evening’s Carols Night.  Our students from Pre-Kindy to Year 6 did an outstanding job performing their Christmas themed song to the community.  Thank you to Mrs Rosman, Mr Leeder, and the Xavier staff for the work they put into ensuring the evening was a wonderful success.  The P&F acknowledged and thanked several staff members who are leaving at the end of the year for their significant contribution to the Xavier community.

2024 Year 6 Student Councillors

Last week the Year 5 students presented their councillor speeches to the Years 4 and 6 classes, as well as to the Leadership Team. They all prepared what they wanted to say very well in a bid to convince the teachers why they should be chosen for a particular council in 2024. The councils are: Discipleship, Xavier Support, Sustainability, Communication and Sport. This week, the current Year 6 councillors passed over the light of leadership to the incoming councillors for 2024.

Xavier Feast day celebrations

What a wonderful way to acknowledge our patron saint – Francis Xavier on his feast day.  A HUGE thank you to the P&F for organising the day’s activities across all cohorts and to the Year 4 Gold class for leading the school in Mass.

Transition Day for 2024 classes

Next Wednesday, from 8.30-11.00am, all the students from Pre-Primary to Year 5 will have the opportunity to spend time with their peers and teacher for next year.  They will engage in various activities during the morning.  There will be three 45-minute transition sessions for families commencing Kindergarten in 2024.

2024 class lists will be placed on the Undercover Area windows on Tuesday afternoon.

Kindy Nativity

On Monday, the Kindy classes held their combined Nativity.  This was a wonderful opportunity for our school to commence the season of Advent.

End of Year Reports

End of year reports will be sent via SeeSaw, after school on Wednesday 6 December.  This report will communicate the academic progress for the school year.

School Fees

As there is only 1 week until the end of the school year, this is a reminder to all families that payment of outstanding school fees must be finalised as soon as possible.  The payment of fees is part of the contract of enrolment and is essential for the efficient financial management of the school.  Please do not hesitate in contacting myself or Finance Officer, Rosa Bicknell if you would like to discuss your child’s school fees.

Year 6 Graduation

Year 6 will celebrate their Graduation from Xavier with a special shared lunch with their parents on Thursday 7 December at 12pm.  The Graduation Mass will commence at 9am followed by a Graduation Assembly and Awards ceremony.  We are all extremely proud of the Year 6s and we wish them the best for high school in 2024.

Uniform Shop Hours on Transition Day

A reminder that the Uniform Shop will be open from 9-11am on Wednesday 6 December for Year One families requiring the purchase of the school uniform for 2024.

Special opening hours will be held on Monday 29 January 2024.  The uniform shop will be open from: 9.00am – 11.00am (New Families) & 11.30am – 1.00pm (Existing Families).

Big Breakfast

Well done to the Breakfast Club volunteers for yesterday’s BIG Breakfast.  The event was well-received by our community and all the volunteers did an impressive job in cooking and serving the breakfast.

A reminder that the last Breakfast Club day is this coming Tuesday. There is NO Breakfast Club on Thursday.

Not returning in 2024?

If your child is not returning to Xavier in 2024 (except students in Year 6), could you please inform the Office in writing asap.  It is a government requirement that you advise Xavier of the new school your child will be attending.
